Strivie Goes ELD — The Build Begins

We knew this day was coming. We just didn't think it would come this fast.

Twenty-four days after writing the first line of Strivie code, with a live customer already dispatching loads, we sat down and said the words that every developer fears and every trucker needs to hear:

"We're building our own ELD."

Yes, from scratch. Yes, on purpose. No, we're not insane. (Debatable.)

Why Build an ELD When Dozens Already Exist?

Great question. We asked it too. Then we actually used the existing ones.

We tested them. All of them. The big names, the small names, the ones with slick marketing, and the ones that look like they were designed during a power outage.

Here's what we found:

They all do the bare minimum. Log hours. Check the box. Send the report. Congratulations, you're compliant. That'll be $89 per truck per month. Have a nice day.

Nobody asked: "What else can we learn from the data that's already flowing through the truck?"

The truck is generating data 24/7. Engine diagnostics. Fuel consumption. Location history. Idle time. Speed patterns. Harsh braking events. And every existing ELD just... ignores most of it. Like having a gold mine and only picking up the rocks on the surface.

The Strivie ELD Vision

Strivie ELD won't just track hours. It will be a full driver intelligence platform:

Fuel AI — not just "you burned X gallons." We're talking route-optimized fueling recommendations, idle time cost analysis, and fuel stop suggestions based on real-time prices along your route. The kind of insights that save hundreds of dollars per truck per month.

Predictive Diagnostics — your truck is trying to tell you something. OBD-II fault codes, coolant temperature trends, engine RPM patterns. We're building the system that listens, analyzes, and warns you before the breakdown happens. Not after. Before.

Safety Scoring That Actually Motivates — nobody changes behavior because of a compliance form. But leaderboards? Competition between drivers? Bonuses tied to safety scores? Now you're talking. We're gamifying safe driving because it works.

Digital DVIR — we already built this into the Strivie Driver App. Pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the driver's phone. With photos. With timestamps. With automatic flagging of issues. Now imagine that connected directly to ELD data — the truck tells us something's wrong, and the driver confirms it with one tap.

The Integration Advantage

Here's what makes Strivie ELD different from every other ELD on the market: it's not a separate product.

When a driver completes a trip, the ELD data flows directly into Strivie's dispatch module. The miles get calculated for payroll. The fuel data goes to the P&L report. The inspection results update the maintenance schedule. The compliance status refreshes in real time.

One data stream. Zero double entry. Everything connected.

Every other ELD requires you to export data, import it somewhere else, reconcile the numbers, and hope nothing got lost in translation. With Strivie, the translation isn't needed. It's all the same language.

Smart Hardware, Smarter Software

Yes, FMCSA requires a registered, approved device connected to the engine. That's non-negotiable, and we're not cutting corners on compliance.

But here's the difference: most ELD providers sell you overpriced hardware with dumb software. A proprietary tablet mount. A cable that costs $47 and breaks after three months. A clunky interface that looks like it was designed by someone who's never sat in a cab.

Strivie ELD pairs an FMCSA-approved device with software that's actually intelligent. The device does what it's required to do — connects to the engine, records the data. But the brains live in the app. Fuel AI, diagnostics, safety scoring, seamless Strivie integration — that's all software. And that's where we're different.

The Build Has Begun

As of today, March 27th, the ELD development branch is live. The architecture is designed. The FMCSA compliance specs are mapped. The first Bluetooth connection test just succeeded.

We're building the ELD that the trucking industry deserves — one that doesn't just keep you compliant, but makes you smarter, safer, and more profitable.

The existing ELD market is about to have a very bad day.
